You know what’s awesome? Returning from a vast and majestic voyage to fresh, new comics and toys! There’s a new Invincible issue out, we got the last issue of Nextwave, and Adam picked up the newest Leaguers from the Alex Ross ‘Justice’ action figure line. Adding Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter and Red Tornado to his roster means he’s officially matched the Justice figures to his old Super Powers figures (with the sole exception of Dr. Fate...). His 5-year-old self is euphoric. Yes, we’re back from Mega-Con, and apologetic for the lack of blogging. There was no Wi-fi at our hotel (can you believe?) and the net access at the Con was $5-10 per hour. Call us old-fashioned, but the airwaves should be free, man! So here’s a run-down of the convention, itself. We were encouraged to go by our friend, Pat Carlucci. He told us that the folks at Mega-Con would love us to death, and we’re pleased to report that he was absolutely right! Thanks a ton, Pat - we had a wonderful time. It was the single greatest con experience we’ve had, so far; each day was the best day (best Friday of any con, best Saturday, etc.) and the whole show outdid every other one that we’ve been to, both business-wise, fan response-wise, and just on pure fun-factor. Our prints sold like hot-cakes…probably better, but that’s only because Adam doesn’t sell his hot-cakes. Remind us, and we’ll throw his Pancake recipe on this mug one of these days. Delicious! Besides the prints, we nearly sold out of our new sketchbook, “Drawlings.” We’re going to have to have a second printing for the next show we go to. Here’s the Drawlings cover - we think it’s pretty cute.
There were a ton of great artists there, from Dave Finch to Adam Kubert to Brandon Peterson. Also in attendance were some of our very favorite people; Darwyn Cooke, Steve McNiven, Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti (Amanda is Comfort’s favorite - her art is so adorable and yet so tough! She’s got great stuff), and Adam’s personal hero, Adam Hughes. We stopped in to chat with Mr. Hughes and Allison Sohn, and they’re both lovely people. A great time was had. We’ll end the day with some pics of the very neat costumes we saw. The Green Lanterns really made Adam’s day - the ‘Kyle’ bought one of his GL Prints, and Adam had to do a little bust-sketch on it just because their costumes were so flippin’ sweet. And yes, those are the Venture Bros. characters. They also made our day. It was a great con! We’ll be back tomorrow for a special post-Mega-Con T&A Thursday! -Adam & Comfort
